The Library Book
The Library Book by Susan Orlean is a love letter to Los Angeles and all libraries. Reading this made me think I chose the wrong career. Haha. I learned so much about LA reading this and I found it quite fascinating. ⠀
In all seriousness though, as an educator I do feel a kinship with librarians across the nation. We work in a field that is constantly under-funded, under resourced, and under appreciated by the people in power. Libraries, like schools, are also essential for any functioning democracy, hence the reason they are constantly under attack. ⠀
Right now, like every other industry, libraries are hurting and need the federal government to step in and provide some relief. They mostly get their funds from local government taxes, but we all know how this year is probably going to pan out. ⠀
Go to the link in my bio to see how you can help libraries across the nation and also do give Susan Orlean a follow on Twitter for some pandemic comedic relief. She is HILARIOUS and very relatable as we live through this moment in time.
